First off, I consider myself lucky, here’s why...

I have been blessed with the love and desire to create, specifically with a pencil and paintbrush for basically my whole life. Over the years and decades, I have created an abundance of different styles and unique looks, from intricate illustration, murals, exotic landscapes, animals, to patterned work, wild, free, spontaneous and calculated. Within the past ten years, leading up to today, I have been working on a door series. My door series is actually, mural-like illustrations, painted directly on hollowed out door-skins. Initially, I use acrylic based paint with a series of thin washes, very much as a watercolorist would. I do not prime my surface, I let the acrylic washes sink into the pristine raw wood surface.

As I gain confidence with my direction in the piece, I lay the paint on with more gusto. All of the images are meant to tell a story and interact with the viewer. My Door Series is loosely based around a video game mentality, where there are different worlds, different journeys, levels, destinations, dreams, desires and goals. This never-ending voyage through the eyes of a little boy, a little girl and you, the viewer, is all about self-discovery and the adventure of this crazy, colorful game, we call life.

For Me personally, I love images that tell a story and I am inspired by the world around me. My reality as an artist, is that the subject matter is just an excuse to play with the materials and get lost in the process. Creating can be a meditative state of mind and getting lost in the work is not only great therapy but has been a positive, dependable joy that I have relied on my whole life. With that being said, I hope you see and find the passion, respect and love in my work and that somehow it overflows into your life as well, “Cheers.”
